I just received my 2C53T 3-in-1 Handheld Oscilloscope, Multimeter & Generator. All good.I had not realised that it ships with only a single oscilloscope probe (it is a twin channel scope). Do you sell additional probes?

I’m a little confused by your warning on your webpage: “For extra-low-voltage circuits only (under 50V AC or 120V DC). Not for mains-voltage measurements.”

The manual for the device says the multimeter range is up to 1000v for DC, and 750v for AC.

Are you referring to the Oscilloscope function?

I think that is just Core’s policy of not dealing with anything directly connected to do with mains 240V operation. Has to do with Core’s clients bing predominately hobbyists or “makers” as the fraternity is now called. That is persons non qualified (mostly) to deal with direct mains powered equipment. All of the products handled by Core seem to be low voltage bits powered by safe plug packs or similar. Where the item is an open power supply like the Mean Well supplied definite suitable warnings are included.

I think it is called “covering your rear end”.

Actually I too have an oscilloscope of the tablet variety, same brand, and it too does not seem to be troubled by 240V AC although I think there are warnings regarding non qualified people and mains power. Not sure now but I would have to find the manual to find out.

I also have a Hantek mains powered oscilloscope but I normally operate this without a mains earth connection which consists of a short (300mm) mains cable with the earth wire disconnected and left hanging out of the connectors so it is obvious. A condition I am NOT recommending unless you really know what you are doing.
I suppose this is a bit naughty but you can introduce hum, noise and other condition that are not really there and are being caused by unwanted earth loops particularly in an analog video system. Don’t know about digital as I have not had much to do with this type of video.

Yes it does seem a bit pricey and out of balance somehow doesn’t it.
Having said that it is a most important part of the oscilloscope. I think the quoted 50MHz bandwidth is only achieved by using this probe @ 10:1 setting and properly adjusted. On the 1:1 setting the bandwidth might be limited to 6 to 10 MHz. Could be wrong but I have not seen the manual. This sort of info should be in there.

While you are here I would suggest you have a look at a thread from Sept 2025. Search for “Mean Well power supply”. Should be on top of the list. You will find some interesting Scope screen shots showing some effects of long earth leads and mains earth connections all with explanations which are a bit long to repeat here. Also discussion which exposed James’ misleading measurement techniques

The mains earth effects do not apply to this instrument as it is battery powered.
