Developing simple game where user has to select certain objects eg hat, glasses etc and match them to objects in a given picture which is shown to them briefly. User has to identify the correct objects under timed conditions. Points awarded for correct objects. Any assistance by way of advice, tutorials, suggested equipment requirements etc gratefully appreciated.

Were you looking for the photo to be shown on your computer screen then have to select the items physically? To start you project I would make a clear plan and then subdivide it into smaller tasks, such as a system to flash the image, etc.

I agree. Ideally, the photo would be flashed on a computer screen, which would also show the score and a countdown. The items would be selected physically.
