# Arlec smart LED strip Raspberry Pi

Hi,

I bought an Arlec 5m smart led strip the other week and was wondering if this would be compatible to control using my raspberry pi?

The led strip is currently connected to a controller box and can be controlled via a remote

I can’t find a particular model or number to identify what sort of LED strip it is and wondering if it’s worthwhile even trying to control it via an rpi?

Hi Jonathan,

Yes, it appears to be a standard Analog LED strip which has a +12v rail and powers each of the respective LEDs (White, Cool White, Red, Green, and Blue) by grounding those specific pins. You’ll need to do some experimentation to confirm, but I believe this article from Adafruit should cover it in principle, just with an extra pin/LED colour:
