Hello…
I’d like to build a Raspberry Pi with an audio input (double RCA would be great) then Bluetooth the music to a Bluetooth speaker.

We have media devices (Androids & Windows) with our software to play scheduled music. I’d like to have the sound (via 3.5 audio jack output & split to RCA) from the device then go into the Raspberry Pi then the Raspberry outputs the sound to a Bluetooth speaker.

I will have someone to work on the code for the Raspberry to recognise the incoming sound & output the sound via Bluetooth

In theory this sounds like it will work but will need to make sure I can get the hardware to make it possible

All help would be very much appreciated

thanks
Wendy

Hey Wendy,
Welcome Back!

One of the only compatible hats for a Pi that I can think of would be the [Raspberry Pi Codec Zero](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi-iqaudio-codec-zero.html) that can take an audio input up to 1vRMS that should be compatible with most smart phones and laptops.

As for connecting the output to be a Bluetooth speaker, this should be capable of being done with the Pis internal Bluetooth chip, I have personally connected Bluetooth headsets to the Pi 4 Model B to use in a portable movie player/media device. It is capable of using that internal chip to output sound, though can be a bit buggy sometimes, I have found there are workarounds with it.

Cheers,
Blayden

Thank You!

Buggy might not be great in commercial environments. I see you also have Mini Digital Bluetooth Amplifiers. I wonder if that would do the trick?

Is that something we might be able to create an APP to pair the bluetooth connection and control volume levels?

thanks
Wendy

Hi @Wendy115847 - sounds like an interesting project! What constraints are we working around here?
have you considered attaching a USB Bluetooth adapter to the PC and just connecting to the bluetooth speaker directly?

HI Michael

I am now looking into multiple set ups. We can’t use the USB ports on the Androids. But yes that is another option too. There are also mini-amplifiers with bluetooth & bluetooth transmitters. I guess it’s trial & error. I thought using the Raspberry might be fun!

thanks for the input
Wendy

Hey Wendy,

If you are looking to use a Bluetooth amplifier board, we have a [great guide and project build using a Bluetooth amplifier board](https://core-electronics.com.au/guides/wireless/mh-m38-bluetooth-10w-speaker/) that may be of interest to you. If you are just looking to play sound out through them it should be something worthwhile having a look at.

Cheers,
Blayden
