can this chip be used on a universal card reader?

im trying to gather components to build my own door locking system that is seamless and hidden but all the rings i find are incompatible with the readers that arnt just in phones if i can find some chips that work with readers that arnt in phones ill be fine but im having trouble finding any info on the topic

Hey Calobe,

Depends on the specs of your reader, which Universal Card Reader have you got? (usually yes, it would be compatible as NTAG203 is fairly common chip) If you don’t have one already, which microcontroller are you controlling the lock with? It shouldn’t matter as most breakouts use standard protocols you can use with just about anything.

That being said, Adafruit recommend this:

Here’s a tute on setting it up. Please let us know if you have any further questions 😄
