I couldn’t get my Piicodev modules to work with Pi Pico Ws running the latest firmware downloaded from the Raspberry Pi website (`rp2-pico-w-20220926-unstable-v1.19.1-451-gbdbc44474.uf2`), as it throws a communication error.

Downgrading to `rp2-pico-w-20220908-unstable-v1.19.1-378-g24678fe45.uf2` fixed the problem for me.

This could be an isolated incident, but in any case I hope this is helpful for anyone facing the same problem.

Hi Steven,

Yeah we’ve had a few reports - James made a topic regarding just this!

> Hi Guys, We’ve had a few reports of I2C issues with the Pi Pico W (i.e. when using PiicoDev gear), shown below: We believe this is due to bugs in recent MicroPython builds. Below is a nightly build we have verified to work: [rp2-pico-w-20220831-unstable-v1.19.1-358-g0b26efe73.uf2.zip](https://forum.core-electronics.com.au/uploads/short-url/znw1c65BZBo4rrLfGhPvd7saN6U.zip) (495.8 KB) Just extract it and copy it over to your Pico as you did when you first set up MicroPython. Here’s an image of us using this build with a PiicoDev BME280: L…

Once a stable release comes out we’ll be all good!

Liam
