Hi all,

I bought a pi 3B+ for this project, first time in the Raspberry pi world.

Unfortunately, when I try to load the 64bit lite version required for the project and installed with raspberry pi image, it doesn’t no work. Even on another SD card (I tried 16Go and 64go).

The screen is fixed on the colour panel.

I try the 32bit OS and it works.

I tried to add to the config.txt file:

arm\_boost=1

boot\_delay=1

kernel=kernel8.img

=\> Solution that I found on the web.

But did not work.

Do you have any idea?

Hi. I’ve been trying to install birdnet on a new Pi4/2gb. So far 5 installs have all failed. The error is:
ERROR: tflite\_runtime-2.6.0-cp39-none-linux\_aarch64.wh1 is not a supported wheel on this platform.

Please advise.

Hi Ray,

Welcome to the forum!!

Have you installed the 64-bit version of Bullseye on the SD card?
From there it should be smooth sailing - let us know if you run into any other issues!

Liam

Hi Liam,
Thanks for that little hint. All sorted out and now running.
Now I suppose to get an ID to join the network.

All sorted.
After making a few tweeks and getting to know my way around things now all set up with a redirect from [birdnet.planetrama.net](http://birdnet.planetrama.net) direct to my unit (actually 202.7.233.92:5000) and also on BirdWeather as #1880. It is a great accompaniment to the bird book that sits on the table on the back deck, now I know what I am supposed to be looking at.

G’Day Tim,
well done putting together this project for everyone to follow.
I’ve have tried a couple of times now to install the packages and get the following error:

Hi Dave,

Not exactly sure what could be causing this issue.

Have you tried re-flashing the MicroSD card and trying from a fresh install of Pi OS as suggested in the tutorial?

G’day Aaron,
Thanks for the suggestion, but sadly could not get past that error…
I did have success with the following link:

loaded no problem, first go…

Hi @Daniel84714, Welcome to the forums!!!

Could you let us know which version of Pi OS and Hardware you are trying to install this on?
From what I can find this install only works with Pi 4 or 3B+ running Bullseye.

If you are running a Pi 5, Pi 4 or lower with Bookworm you may need to use[this fork of the project](https://github.com/Nachtzuster/BirdNET-Pi) that has Bookworm support.

Hi Aaron,

I am running a RPi4 8GB model in an Argon40 V2 case with NvME expansion board.
I have tried:
RaspiOS 64-bit full and Core Electronics curl script (exited unsuccessfully)
RaspiOS 64-bit full and attempted update (is there something wrong with the Raspberry Pi updates, most were ignored or errors) and Core Electronics curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

I can ping the update addresses and I can browse to the files in Firefox
RaspiOS 64-bit full and mcguire98 curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

RaspiOS 64-bit full and attempted updates mcguire98 curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

RaspiOS 64-bit lite and Core Electronics curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

RaspiOS 64-bit lite and attempted updates and Core Electronics curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

RaspiOS 64-bit full and attempted updates with modified raspi.list changing to suggested sources and mcguire98 curl script (exited unsuccessfully)

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi @Daniel84714,

I would recommend trying the [Nachtzuster](https://github.com/Nachtzuster/BirdNET-Pi) fork of the project as it has been updated as recently as this week where the [mcguire98](https://github.com/mcguirepr89/BirdNET-Pi) hasn’t had a change in over a year.

Thanks Aaron,

Got it running and I can replicate it using the SDcopier function in RaspiOS.
I also managed to get BirdNET-Pi running on the Raspberry Pi 5 as well.

1. Fresh install of the latest RaspiOS (19th November 2024). (Lite version? I will check on that…)
2. After 20-30 minutes, run updates and upgrades.
3. Install Nachtzuster fork.
4. If that does not work, remove the BirdNET folder, and re-run the Nachtzuster curl command.

That seems to have got it running on the Pi 5

P.S. It is RaspiOS Lite

Hey @Jason296412, Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, it looks like this particular file has been lost to time. We have a fair amount of resources for this project archived, but it doesn’t seem like that 3D model is one of them.

If you manage to splice together that rooster STL with a Pi case, let us know! It would be awesome to be able to recreate that case design.

HI Tim,

I’m a high school teacher in Queensland, and we are rolling these out across several school. I have been monitoring birds at home for 2 years using my home wifi network. I am looking for some advice on how I might be able to power remote devices and what my options are in terms of 4G connectivity (maybe a USB modem with prepaid SIM). School networks are not an option.

Hi @Jarrah297923

Welcome to the forum!

For powering the Pi you would need a solar manager, I would recommend [Solar Power Manager Module (D)](https://core-electronics.com.au/solar-power-manager-module-d-supports-6v24v-solar-panel-and-type-c-power-adapter-5v3a-regulated-output.html) you would also need a solar panel that outputs between 6V~24V and is also able to deliver ~3x the required power for the Pi (to maintain the battery as well as to power it overnight and during times when energy collection isn’t optimal), [3-pin LiPo Battery for PiJuice 20000mAh](https://core-electronics.com.au/3-pin-lipo-battery-for-pijuice-20000mah.html) would give you the longest battery life of the compatible ones that we stock.

As for internet connectivity, a USB modem will work, you can also look at something like [Waveshare 4G HAT for Raspberry Pi (LTE Cat-4/4G/3G/2G/GNSS) | Buy in Australia | WS-17372 | Core Electronics](https://core-electronics.com.au/waveshare-4g-hat-for-raspberry-pi-lte-cat-4-4g-3g-2g-gnss.html) that would attach to the GPIOs of the Pi to provide a cellular connection.
