Hi,

I have 2 wireless ‘key‘ gate keypads mounted to a 50mm rhs steel post. They control an electric driveway gate. There is no 240v power at the keypads. They are powered by a 3 volt battery pack (2 x AAA alkaline batteries in series) with a 2 pin jst connector. They last around 12 months.

The battery pack has the 2 AAA batteries soldiered together and shrink wrapped. I cannot easily buy these battery packs any more. I am looking for a better solution. Please help! I am thinking a battery holder may be a better option as I could easily replace with standard AAA batteries when needed however if I could set it up with a longer life battery or rechargeable battery and a small solar panel that may be even better?? It is a pain when the battery run out as someone gets stuck at the gate… Any ideas?Uploading: 4AAC9987-B1CD-4083-B9E5-80FCC5DB513F.jpeg… Uploading: 77816A3C-178A-49A4-ADBE-E8585634445F.jpeg… Uploading: 67E6BEC8-FE47-4947-B5C7-88050A88366E.jpeg… Uploading: 8873E986-035A-4019-9573-9BC7021F4489.jpeg… Uploading: BD4BCD0A-7F20-44D1-AC23-3024D7893559.jpeg…

Hey Luke,

Okay, what’s the voltage and capacity of the particular battery that you’re using. If it’s 3x AAA I’d say it’d be pretty close to 3.6V or 3.7V ~3000 mAh. If so, then any battery with more capacity than 3000 mAh and 3.7 V should be suitable for this one. (Such as that I’ve linked below)

> **[Polymer Lithium Ion Battery (LiPo) 3.7V 4400mAh](https://core-electronics.com.au/polymer-lithium-ion-battery-4400mah.html)**
>
> This Lithium Polymer Ion based battery is a slim, lightweight battery that is perfect for a portable project! LIPO chemistry is the highest energy density chemistry around and due to that, you get nominal 3.7V at 4400mAh!

If there’s anything else that I can help you with please let me know!

Hey Luke,

Okay, depending on the clearance you’ve got, you may be able to fit one of these appropriate holders into the device. Otherwise, I’d check the min and max voltage ratings on your part, as you may be able to get away with running this at 3.7 V from the battery above.
