I was connecting the LIDAR WS-24659 to the test bed, and found that it would boot up and flood the TX/RX channels and stop ROS2 had a chance to complete its boot up sequence on the Pi5 Driving the project.

On the test bed, I simply plug in the power after the Pi boots, and then it all comes together. So was hoping that someone may know a way top automate that.

Hi Aaron,

Welcome back!

To confirm, is your wiring the same as indicated here: [https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/D200\_LiDAR\_Kit#How\_to\_Connect](https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/D200_LiDAR_Kit#How_to_Connect) (No Pi RX, just receiving from the unit?)

There might be a couple ways you could go about this, setup-dependent.
If its just the power wire you are connecting, using a MOSFET board to control that connection would work perfectly: [https://core-electronics.com.au/pololu-isolated-solid-state-relay-switch-spst-30v-11a.html](https://core-electronics.com.au/pololu-isolated-solid-state-relay-switch-spst-30v-11a.html)
I’ve been loving these modules, small size, high current rating.

Or controlling the whole USB interface/data lines: [https://core-electronics.com.au/usb-switch-and-multiplexer.html](https://core-electronics.com.au/usb-switch-and-multiplexer.html)
While still a valid solution, the extra complexity might not help the project
A discrete analog switch IC with an appropriate rating could also work.

Keen to see this working!
Liam

Hi Liam,
Thank you for your response. The wiring looks the same, it is just the power that I need to connect. To fix the problem I used a MOSFIT CE09733, the issue I had with that is that it would start HI and I would need to invert the signal. After examing a few wiring diagram solutions, this seems like something that is possible, but as I am much more a programmer than an electronics expert, it is something I was hoping there was a plug and play solution for.

I would like to avoid using the USB controller.

I just looked at SKU: POLOLU-5421, this looks perfect, thank you so much Liam!
