Opto-isolator breakout to read 15v input

Hi, I note in the description of Opto-isolator breakout (SKU BOB-09118) that it takes up to 5V input to control high voltage output, but I want to connect to 15V AC input (containing pulse width signal) to generate a 5V output for an Arduino to read. Will it accommodate that, or burn the LEDs? Is there are more suitable Opto-isolator in the range? Thanks, JD

Hey Justin,

The best way to do that would be to rectify and regulate your output. I’d recommend using a 4-way bridged set of diodes and then from there, you can control the optical isolator with an appropriate 5V regulator. If there’s anything else that I can do for you please let me know!
