Probably a really dumb question, but I just bought the 60W Hakko soldering iron and this soldering iron stand, but the iron doesn’t quite fit in the stand - it catches on the screws which hold the bit in place. Is there some trick to this, or did I just buy a stand which is too small? I can get the iron in the stand, but it requires a fair bit of twisting/rotation get it to slide in/out, which can’t be intended.

This stand says it’s perfect for the 20W iron, but both the 20W and 60W iron list the same diameter (“13.5mm diameter shaft”), so I thought it’d be fine.

It sounds like your irons are the 240VAC variety with a screw to retain the tip in position, the head of which sits proud of the iron body.

I think these stands are more suited for the temperature controlled irons which have a different tip retaining system (no protruding screws). You may be able to find a screw with a smaller profile head or even a countersunk one might do.

A tip: Loosen and retighten this screw periodically to discourage freezing due to heat. If you don’t do this you might find you cannot remove it when you need to.
