Really appreciate the further suggestions @dave50358 and @AndrewBG. I am tending to think that I should try and invert it to avoid dirt / debris messing with it. I can indeed hang it from the rafters - there is decent support and stability there.

I think that that is going to be the best bet, inverted from the rafters.
