Read moreThe product image here is the Waveshare non-POE device (blue label, SKU 24962) however the part number is Waveshare SKU 24963 which would be the POE device (green label). Could I confirm which one you get if you order? It the POE device SKU 24963 I was after.
I’m looking to simply tunnel two RS485 connections in one place, over an ethernet network, to two different RS485 connections in two different places.
Can I use one WS-24963 connected to to two RS485 channels and direct each channel independently to two each of of two WS-23626. With the tunnelled TS485 going directly (bidirectional) between the units?
WS-24963 - 2-Ch RS485 to RJ45 Ethernet Serial Server
WS-23626 - Rail-Mount Serial Server RS232/485/422 to RJ45 Ethernet Module
Hi there, @Threaded,
As I said, over on your other post, yes that is absolutely possible so long as you have some form of IP routing on your LAN. If you were simply connecting the two modules via an Ethernet cable then no, that probably would not work unless your serial devices can handle L2 and L3 routing.
Unfortunately we do not have the POE version of this module, but we do have something similar in the form of:
Thanks @Jane the appeal of the WS-24963 was 2-channel RS-485 support in one PoE DIN package. You do also have this WS-23626 PoE module, and I could use two of these with two cables. The WS-30303 you suggested has better internal isolation, but would be 4-wide on the DIN bar to provide 2 channels. That for the info!
