$2000 reward for working capacitive touch sensor

Hi Everybody,

I’m fabricating a brass framed mirrors with LED strip lighting. I’d like to have a built-in capacitive touch sensor for switching the strip on-off. The brass frame is the touching sensor.

All the elctronics has to be concealed behind the mirror, max thickness is 30mm. The brass frame cannot be divided or using an extra plate for the touch sensor, the frame has to be the touch sensor.

The brass frame is 60kg 76x12.7mm flat bar. The touching sensor is on the brass frame, behind the mirror. The LED strip is 100W.

I have tried this Table light On/off Touch Control Sensor for Dimmer Halogen LED Bulb Lamp Switch | eBay which works nicely with only a 5kg of brass, but when I connect it to the entire brass frame It ligths up once and then wouldn’t do anything.

I offer $2.000 for someone give me a working solution. Plus the material cost, no upfront.

My workshop is in Botany, 41 Pemberton street, Sydney. You are more than welcome to come and talk about it.

Thank you

Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your post and for putting up a generous bounty for local makers, there are just a few things I do need to mention for anybody reading.

For anyone curious about how to build a capacitive touch sensor, this has been covered in an earlier thread here Capacitive touch sensor for mirror

Hi Tom,

Best to approach your local makerspace or some engineering friends - due to past incidents we no longer encourage these types of services on our community forum.

hi Trent,

Thank you.

The previous thread was me too but unfortunately it didn’t bring any success dispite Oliver fantastic help. I don’t have the basic skillset to make tests or to decide if it is feasible at all, hence the reward…
Thanks again

Last time Oliver suggested the same and was so kind that even googeled a few locals for me, I contacted them with no success… hence the reward
Thanks
