ADSB Alarm - Aircraft monitoring for Drone operators

After a lot of of AI and testing I have about got to the ‘Real” testing stage of this project.
Hardware used is a Pi4 8gig, Display2, RTL-SDR and a USB GPS
Software features;

  • Accessed via web browser (on Pi or via wifi)

  • Map with live locations of aircraft

  • Settable ranges for both Distance and height for the alarm (Circle changes from opaque blue to red if A/C in distance)

  • List of monitored A/C - clickable which opens flightradar24 with the A/C details

  • 30 second A/C trails for quick and easy orientation/heading

  • Audible and txt readouts of all A/C within alert range, including; Dist, Height, Heading as well as closing distance to your GPS location

  • Manual setting of Co-Ords or using Phone GPS (Too unreliable) and able to save these locations etc on the Pi so anyone accessing has access to these locations.

  • Quick link button to OpenSky to check airspace/airports/helipads etc.

  • Bluetooth speaker so EVERYONE can hear the alerts.

My question is - will the ***KKSB Display Stand for Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 suit the old Pi4?

Shout out goes to Bruce Simpson - I was a member for 2+ years waiting for his version but gave up and used AI to help me out!

Hey @paul246944 and welcome to the forum!

That sounds like a pretty cool project, would love to see how it plays out.

While the Pi 4 and 5 are the same size, the ports for the Pi 5 are actually the reverse from the Pi 4, meaning that any case that is designed to fit the USB and Ethernet Ports of the Pi 5, will not work with the Pi 4.

Something like the Smart Pi Touch Pro 3 might be more appropriate.

HI

Thanks for the quick response!

I require portrait mode and not landscape.

Thanks

Hi Paul, Dont suppose you may have come across any info on ID’ing Drones by their WIFI broadcasts

..as in RID? - Only the apps available on your phone.
I did a quick project with an Arduino that spammed fake RID’s - so to “hide” your location (for ‘security’ and ‘safety’ reasons) within the “ghost” drones and operators - seemed to work ok, however it never left my office.

BTW - I’m not a coder, just a copy/paster with AI access!

Probably not from the pics of the display, the Ethernet connector swapped sides between the Pi 4 and Pi 5.

The KKSB Display Stand for Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 is designed for the official Raspberry Pi 7” Touch Display, and it supports both the Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 3 boards. So yes, it will work with your Pi 4 8GB.
