Automatic Pi reboot after a power loss

I’m currently running a Pi 3+ Desktop with Pi-Hole, and PiVPN for external access. I would like the Pi to automatically reboot when household power returns after a power loss. Tried to configure watchdog, but without success. Can the PiJuice UPS HAT (or similiar) be configured to start up automatically? Or is there another alternative? Remote booting possible? POE HAT? Thanks.

Hey Peter,

I’m not sure about whether you’d be able to have the Pi auto-reboot when the power is cut then restored, although if you take a look at the two forums below, you may be able to set up an auto reboot every so often and use one of the battery pack hats to keep the Pi running through outages.

Thanks Bryce. I shall follow them up, and do a bit more research. Cheers, Peter.

You’re welcome Peter,

Make sure to put up a post here if you are able to figure it out or if you have any questions about it. It’ll be extremely useful for people that’re looking for that solution. Have a great day!

Hi Peter,

Like Bryce, I couldn’t find anything on rebooting the pi when power is restored, but potentially there may be a setting in this guide that may help you out. Specifically under the heading System Task Menu. You may be able to get a voltage change or charge change to initiate a restart.
