Connecting a NAS to a Kodi Media Server

Can anyone tell me how to connect my NAS video and music server to a Raspberry Pi running the Kodi Media Server. They are both on the same Ethernet network.

Dave,
pretty sure you do that from the ‘Music Library’, ‘Add Sources’, there should be a button to ‘Browse’ for sources and your NAS should show up there. Sorry I’m not more specific, I used to have a Windows Share on my laptop and that’s what I recall, but I’m not running Kodi now.

What Dave mentioned should work if the NAS presents as a DLNA certified media server.

This guide does have the step by step method for all scenarios though (note section “5 Adding Remote sources”)

Also worth noting that various protocols are supported. You can find those here (and ensure your NAS is using one of them):

Thanks, I will explore further over the weekend as Kodi can currently see my Lacie NAS but not my Buffalo NAS.

Just to clarify, the “Browse” method does not rely on the NAS being a DLNA media source. It works for SMB (aka Windows) shares as well.
