Absolutely, abstraction is king for systems like this, happens a lot in software too. Unfortunately that tends to lead to the situation where people become complacent, assuming if it works it’ll always work and I don’t need to know why it works.
Not a huge problem for a relatively low voltage USB supply for a robot’s microcontroller being capable of more than is needed, but the complacency is a slightly bigger issue if it is related to an autopilot system in an aircraft however.
