Need an infrared receiver diode for this model.
Remote seems to be working ok.

Diode or transistor?? Any commonly available devices should be ok as long as there are no Denon specific mechanical problems.

Looks like a transistor with 3 legs. You do need to make sure though. Don’t think you will get a general purpose one with the plastic bit on it.

That’s an “IR Receiver Module”. It includes a IR detector and pre-amplifier in a single package with a filter lens. There is an example here. If you have an existing part number it should be possible to identify the frequency it is optimized for, but otherwise most generic devices will be compatible.

Interesting little gizmo. Just accentuates a lot has happened since I stopped full time work.
To use one of these or something similar you would still have to determine the pin connections and frequency. Having done that one of these should do the job.
