can I use UNO R3 board with Ethernet Shield W5100 + PDF for Arduino AVR Learner instead of EtherTen Ethernet Arduino Compatible Microcontroller? I want to start work on my graduate project

Welcome to the forums!
It looks like you should be able to get that working with the Ethernet shield and Uno R3 for that project, though it may take some tweaking as there will be additional libraries required for the Ethernet shield to work effectively.
It is basically just a different way of doing the same thing though and I assume it will work just as well once its all set up.
