Generic sk6812 leds

This was sent from the seller with the sketch. But i also had the datasheet wiring and his wiring and frankly i cant get either to work. Have just been thinking about trying a last time with the adafruit brand from core electronics shop.

Hey Terry,

Seems like the supplier may not be giving the best info through. Seems to have given 2 different pinouts for that one.

Give the Adafruit ones a go as they would have a lot more documentation backing them than it seems you are getting with these ones currently.

Cheers,

Hi Terry
As I pointed out above the data sheet you linked does not agree with the sketch you posted. One of them is wrong.

I did ask if that data sheet was the correct one for your LEDs and you have not seen fit to answer a simple question so no one (me anyway, some others may be mind readers) is quite sure what you have got. I think most of these LEDs of this nature would have the same connections as some sort of standard so it would be my bet that the sketch is wrong.

Do what has been suggested and chuck these Ebay devices and get a brand that has some support. If you have a problem you can then tell people exactly what you have and only then can you expect any help.

@Robert93820 the picture i showed of the seller getting these to work with the same wiring in the sketch, was the answer. You dont have to be a mind reader to get it. So to answer your question im not actually sure because ive tried both methods and got neither to work. So i have purchased the adafruit ones and doubt i will have anymore drama with it.

Hi Terry,

The Adafruit ones ought to work straight out of the box!

eBay and other non-reputable sellers can be quite annoying cant they?

We’re keen to see your project come to life!

Well I’ve learned my lesson about buying cheap components. The adafruit ones showed up today and soldered them straight to my board. They work a treat.

Hi Terry

Yes, there is a story which no doubt you have heard involving peanuts and monkeys. Applies very well to the electronics industry.

Good to see it worked out. You have probably sorted your next dozen problems with the above realisation.
