Hello im new here

Gday

From Sydney here and in my thirties. Am a long-term amateur radio operator
with an interest in public outreach and promotion of my hobby to younger generations and
designing YouTube videos on aspects of the amateur radio course

Have an interest in amateur radio primarily in outdoor settings
as well as satellites (basically anything where a smartphone
cannot be used)

Look forwards to more ideas

Hello James,

Welcome to the community! Do you have a link to some of the YouTube videos you’ve worked on?
We had someone a little while ago make a post about tracking radiosondes, I wonder if there is some crossover there that would interest you?

Hey James,

Awesome, promotion and education is by far the best way to get the word out and people keen!

SDR’s would be right up your alley! There is a great community backing behind them already, albeit quite small.

I’d take a look at LoRa and LoRaWAN and maybe GPS’s, LoRa is the physical layer that allows for peer to peer communication in a variety of network configurations (point to point, mesh, tree networks) and allows for other technologies to be built on-top of it, LoRaWAN (that’s built on LoRa, not quite the same thing) relies on gateways on the ground connected to the internet (…and thus The Things Network), and GPS, satelites to get the modules location.

EDIT: Clarified between LoRa and LoRaWAN

I’m keen to see some videos
Liam.

Do you guys have any plans to stock the RTL-SDR V3 Dongle?

I think it would be a great addition.

Hi Uskompuf,

I’ve passed this onto our product team to have a look at, you might see it in a while!
