HELP Motorised Music box

Hey everyone, first time poster here.
I want to use a motor to motorise a music box as a gift and possibly even add lights to it,
however I have no experience with engineering.

  1. What kind of motor do I need to use so it is able to turn the handle?
  2. How would I be able to link both the lights and motor to turn on at the same time?

Hi Luke,

It depends on how fast the handle needs to be turned. You could probably do it with a continuous servo, but then you would need a microcontroller to drive it. I would suggest a gearmotor:

Just find one that will turn at the correct speed and make something to interface it with the handle!
You could add lights that operate on the same voltage and then it could all turn on at once when powered.
