I’m looking for a small electric motor that will turn very slowly. Perhaps geared, for a toy lighthouse any ideas
You can get some really slow little gear motors, like this one from Pololu:
Core sell Pololu stuff so they might be able to get it in.
You could also use a micro stepper and control the speed much more precisely:
In regards to the hobby motor (Hobby Motor - Gear | Sparkfun ROB-11696 | Core Electronics Australia) (SKU: ROB-11696), what is the dimension of the motor rod itself? It says 6mm in the description but that 6mm seems to be the diameter of the gear attached to the rod.
Also, does this motor perform well under decent torque? I am planning on attaching 2 of the motors to a wheel separately, the two wheels will have a tennis ball go in between them and ideally accelerate the tennis ball to a ‘decent’ speed. I was wondering, if the motor can withstand some torque so that it won’t get blocked if the tennis balls goes in between, I understand that spacing would have to be quite precise.

I measured the shaft as 2mm Diameter and 10mm long.
The motor isn’t too powerful, only around 2.4 watts based on the stall current at 3V.
It could still work for this project but you may need to use flywheels to store up energy so you’re not just relying on the power of the motor itself for energy.
This video From Stuff Made Here is a similar project taken to the extreme but has really good explanations in regards to motor power and energy transfer.
