Interactive, Proximity Sensing Coffee Table

Light and motion are some of the most intuitive ways that we humans relate to the world around us, so when projects that bring the two together in clever ways, we LOVE it! This one awesome YouTuber has created a coffee table that has a LED grid behind it that you can interact with to display images or play games such as the Tetris and Snake demos. Dinner times would never be the same again; you could battle it out on Tetris to see who has to do the dishes!

Many people have also created similar tables with proximity detection which use IR sensors to visualize the proximity of objects. The potential for an excellent DIY geek line of furniture is just too real!

A group of students has created one such reactive table and documented their process for others to follow if you’re curious on how to build your interactive table, check out their page here.
