I recently purchased a 400mAh LiPo battery (Polymer Lithium Ion Battery (LiPo) 3.7V 400mAh | Core Electronics Australia), but unfortunately the black lead broke from the battery protector PCB.
I’m intending to attempt to resolder it, but the PCB is protected by this yellow-tape (i’m assuming to help reduce static). I’ll need to cut through it to access the PCB, and if the tape is there, I have a feeling I should replace it.
Is this a polyimide tape like the ones listed on here (High Temperature Adhesive Tape - (1cm, 33m) | Sparkfun PRT-10687 | Core Electronics Australia)?

Hi Tristan,
You’re correct with the tape being Polyimide, if you do go ahead with the repair exercise extreme caution, LiPos are very unforgiving if you short them out/damage them in any way. I would recommend doing it in an area that can easily be evacuated and also having an appropriate fire extinguisher on hand

Thanks Dan,
The battery wire transplant was a success, but I did keep around my fire-proof cooking bowl and fire blanket before doing anything silly. I now have it taped back down and sitting happy.
The 1/20 inch spacing between the two pads was definitely a bit nerve wracking, but I now feel a bit more confident to step up the wire-gauge if the project needs it.
Cheers,
Tristan.

Lovely to hear!
Also I’m very impressed with the steps you’ve taken for safety equipment, LiPo batteries are no joke.
