Bought one of these some time ago, but it seems to have become deprecated. The GitHub site no longer installs correctly.
Will I have to run it on an older version of Debian?

Yes, it does appear to have been retired and deprecated.
When you say it no longer installs correctly, are you just cloning this repo and/or running the install script from here:
I suspect it may not be compatible with later versions of Raspberry Pi OS, but depending on the errors that you’re getting and how you’re trying to use it there may be a way to get it set up with Bookworm.
