Query on compatibility between the Teensy 4.0/4.1 boards and the OctoWS2811 Adapter [for Teensy 3.1]

Hi All,

I’m just wanting to know if the OctoWS2811 Adapter for Teensy 3.1 [SKU: ADA1779] is compatible with the Teensy 4.0 boards [either SKU: DEV-15583 or SKU: DEV-16997] and/or Teensy 4.1 boards [either SKU: DEV-16771 or SKU: DEV-16996] and, if so, what (if any) extra parts are needed to mount any of these boards onto the OctoWS2811 Adapter?

In a nutshell, I want to purchase these items for a virtual pinball machine that I currently have and to be able to connect various things, such as addressable LED strips, an SD (or HD) LED matrix panel, some backlit RGB LED flipper buttons, some LED strobe/flashers, plus any other addressable LED items that I may want to add in future.

I’m proficient with a soldering iron and have built many circuit boards over the past eight years. Budget isn’t an issue and I’m willing to spend whatever is needed to be able to future-proof the device so that it can be expanded further down the track.

Any advice on the above query would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Deon.

Hi Deon, welcome back!

I did some digging, and it seems like you’re not the first to ask, and the answer is yes! just pay attention to the last post in this thread:

I initially thought the answer was no, so I did some thinking about how to avoid using that expansion board, let me know if that interests you, glad it’s a yes though!
