Yeah, there is always a risk something may not work out of the box.
I tend to by these sorts of things in pairs for this very reason. especially when getting from cheap box movers like amazon or aliexpress etc.
The tech in me wants to know what the issue is; i.e. does it look like any of the solder joints may not be as good as they should, any components look like they have been hot … not always easy to spot.
I got one of my devices from an aliexpress supplier. The device was opensource, so all of the plans are online if you wanted to make your own. When it got here, I connected to test and lots of smoke… turns out on the the caps was in backwards and cooked it. Lucky I had a spare one here and replaced it and all worked fine.
Key point… always a chance something can go wrong… just for fun when its you.
