I have had this Adafruit DS3231 Precision RTC Breakout #### SKU: ADA3013 which I bought here for some time and want to fit it to my RPI 4 , I don’t think it is directly pluggable into the Pi there are 8 connections. Vin, Gnd, SCL, SDA, BAT,32K, SQW, RST.
I currently have a 1307 RTC in a RPI3 but wanted the more precise 3231.
The pinouts are defined in the documentation, with a good description of their functionality. Also a section on Circuit Python, which should get you started if you plan to use Python with the DS3231.
