This crimping tool can be used to crimp both male and female versions of Pololu’s Tamiya connector crimp pins, mini Tamiya connector crimp pins, JST connector crimp pins, JR crimp pins, Futaba J crimp pins, and crimp pins for 0.1″ housings onto 16-28 AWG wires to make custom cables. The crimping die has a width of 7 mm, and the tool offers ratcheting action for increased consistency and ease of use.

SKU: POLOLU-1928 is suitable for using with JST-XH connectors. Thanks for your help.

Hi Nic,

That crimper should work just fine with JST-XH connectors. The crimp pins themself are the same in most JST connectors and it’s just the plastic housing that varies, which won’t impact the crimper needed.

I was just wondering if this tool works with the following crimp contact types

  • Trifurcon, KK 7258, Socket, Crimp, 22 AWG
  • Trifurcon, KK 396 Trifurcon 6838, Socket, Crimp, 18 AWG

You need the correct dies to match your crimps, but sometimes you can get away with it if you just need something that’s good enough for home/hobby use (where it’s not worth paying $1000 for the OEM tool), or to get you out of a pickle.

Hi Jeff,

As Oliver has mentioned these crimpers aren’t advertised by the manufacturer as being compatible with those crimp types but that’s not to say they won’t work, just that it hasn’t been tested. We don’t have any Trifurcon connectors to test them with so we can’t confirm for you unfortunately.
