Dagu Wild Thumper 4WD All-Terrain Chassis, Black, 75:1 (POLOLU-1567)

This is a placeholder topic for “Dagu Wild Thumper 4WD All-Terrain Chassis, Black, 75:1” comments.

This rugged, 4-wheel-drive chassis from Dagu Electronics has independent suspension for each of its spiked 120mm-diameter wheels, allowing exceptional traction over uneven terrain, and its body is made from 2mm-thick anodized aluminum with a 10mm-pitch grid of 4mm holes, making it easy to mount electronics and accessories to the chassis. Assembly of the chassis is a simple three-step process that takes just minutes. This model is black with 75:1 steel gearboxes on the motors. It might have metallic-red hubs (as shown in the main product picture) or gold hubs (not pictured).

What would be a suitable motor controller with Raspberry Pi bridge to use with this product?

Hi David,

A controller such as the Pololu Simple Motor Controller 18v7 would be a good choice for a Pi since it can be sent commands via TTL serial.

There are a few different options for controllers with and without feedback, just make sure it can handle the 6.6A stall current of the motors in the Dagu.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks James!

One other question on this product - do you offer the similar model with the 34:1 gear ratio?

Thank you!

Hi OlSnacky,

While we have retired most of the variants of the Dagu, Our supplier does stock the different variations, so we might be able to special order one at an extended lead time.

Send through an email to support@coreelectronics.com.au and we’ll see what we can do.
