Dongar adaptor to fit ford ranger

Hey guys is there any way to make a short adaptor harness from my 2015 px2 xlt ford ranger hi-rider auto dimming rear view mirror so i can keep the original factory harness plug ,but can also plug a newer plug in that suits a powered dongar to run a Navman myvue 640 dual webcam , will include photos of what i need , any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey there, @Darren333275, and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here.

It’s definitely doable. A short plug-through adaptor harness could keep your factory wiring intact while supplying the dashcam adaptor. Finding plugs that fit is only half the battle, the tricky bit is making sure the connector housing and pin assignment line up.

Before going any further, it’s going to be a good idea to get to terms with the mirror’s pinouts, particularly the power and earth pins, and whether the supply can support the camera. With those details, it should be easier to establish whether a ready-made harness exists or an automotive auto electrician needs to make one.

If you can find that little white plastic clip, then you are doing much better then me, have searched hi and low and just about every website in the world, lol

Hi Darren

What little white plastic “clip”.
The only “little white” things in those pics are connectors.
Cheers Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for pointing that out, and yes white connector not clip, cannot find them anywhere

Hi Darren
This sort of thing came up recently and I suggested google a search with “what connector is that” and you will come up with plenty of hits.
Being automotive Molex might be a good start and Core have a page on connector identification but don’t know how extensive that is. Most search results have pictures so you will have to do some searching.
Cheers Bob

Might be worth sending these Guys a query. the seem to have the cables etc in your images above and being specialized in that sort of thing should know the makes/models.

@Darren333275, here’s the connector identification guide Bob mentioned.

From a look through it, it doesn’t quite match it to anything in either the document or our catalogue. Bob and @Michael99645 are right that it would probably best to reach out to an automotive supplier for this connector.
