I am creating an art installation with 2.5m of high brightness EL wire by Adafruit. A battery pack will not last for a week long exhibition. I need to power the EL wire safely from a 240V mains power outlet.
I do not know how to do this. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Rather than power the inverter from a battery you’ll just need an equivalent plugpack power supply.
For example, if your inverter accepts 5V, then a 5V plugpack such as this would do nicely.
It would just be up to you to wire the plugpack output to the inverter input. You can do the whole thing without soldering by using a matching 2.1mm socket with screw terminals for the inverter-side connection.
