My DC to DC Buck converter Makita Battery power supply

I have designed an enclosure in Fusion 360 and 3D printed it in PLA on my Ender 3V2. I houses a 75W DC to DC Buck converter, Cigarette Lighter Socket, Volt Amp meter and an illuminated switch. It attaches to a Makita battery Shoe that I puchased from Vic Tools. My primary use is for powering my Cpap machine when mains power is not available. Power outages and camping are examples. 1 x 5AH battery will last around 6 hours. I am looking to source just the battery blade block used in the Vic Tools shoe so I can design and print more of the enclosure myself. Anyone got suggestions? The CE07271 - DC-DC Adjustable Step-down Module 5A 75W works great. Good service Graham Mitchell, Cheers John Reid,

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing your work-in-progress project, love the 3D printed enclosures you’ve got so far and from what I’ve heard portable batteries for a CPAP machine aren’t cheap so it sounds really worthwhile.

You don’t really own something until you’ve voided the warranty on it, so perhaps you can find a way to dismantle the Vic Tools shoe to see if there are any markings on the battery connector to help you ID the part. I’ve had a quick search but it’s just a guessing game as to which connectors will fit your specific battery model.

I have found a suitable makita terminal block for $2.70 each when I bought 10 delivered from China.

Thanks Trent, you prompted me to take a proper look. I shall wait a month an see what I get.
Cheers, John

Hi John,

At that price it’s worth giving them a shot, even if what turns up may not be 100% what was described there’s still a decent chance it will be just the thing you wanted.

The yellow terminal blocks fit the Makita “Shoe” perfectly so I was able to progress to designing an enclosure for a Temperature controlled T12 Soldering station. So pleased with the result that I have made 3 more for Christmas presents for son and son inlaws. Great fuctional, compact, portable device that can quickly be utilized in car, caravan, boat or irrigation system. Fusion 360 and my Ender3 V2 Pro continue to surpass my expectations. A great kitchen table project. T12 Makita Battery Soldering Station - YouTube
