Will this product bend in a different direction to what is shown, i.e. with the LEDs facing outwards instead of upwards as shown?

How would one go about daisy chaining these for the data? Is it possible to do so?
I was hoping to use one microcontroller (Pi) to drive 20-40 of these ribbons, obviously with power and ground different for each strip
