Pi WiFi as node

I want to set up a Pi to act as a WiFi connection point. I have an Ethernet network which connects several Pi’s and control systems together. I want to be able to use one of the Pi’s as a WiFi connection point so that a notebook or tablet can access the network through the WiFi interface on the Pi and the Pi will route this back to the network. Is this possible?
Are not the transmit and receive frequencies the same for WiFi? SO should not this be possible to get the WiFi on the Pi to act as a connection point for another WiFi device?

How would I do this?

I could say that I am trying to get the Pi to act as a repeater. From WiFi connection to independent WiFi device REPEAT TO Ethernet connection to network.

An extension of this could be From WiFi connection to independent WiFi device RETEAT TO another PI using same WiFi.

Hi Clem,

It’s a little difficult to understand exactly what you’d like to do with your Pi, but it sounds fairly similar to the kind of setup used for PiHole (an automated ad-blocking proxy) or using it as a wireless access point. I’ve added a link below for you which should answer most of the questions that you’ve asked, if not please let me know and I’ll see what else I can come up with.
