The stated time of refresh being ‘25 seconds’ sounds a bit slow. Could it be a typo say 2.5seconds? I know the refresh can be slow on eink, but 25seconds seems out by a magnitude or two.

Hi Thurstan,

Welcome to the forum!

It’s actually 25 seconds to refresh the whole display  ePaper displays (particularly the pHATS) are notoriously slow to refresh. If you’re looking for an energy-efficient display that’s much much faster I’d check out LED and OLED, although they’re quite different to the ePaper. Have a Merry Christmas!

Hi Bryce,
Thanks for the reply. Woah.

I was actually looking for flexible, good in sunlight and portable so power efficient, 25s full screen refresh is a bit too high though. I don’t need the latest in the 10ms sort of speed that I think some can do partial refresh at, but yeh sub second would be useable. Will keep looking.

Hey Thurstan,

Just an FYI, keep in mind this is for the whole display, if you are only changing small segments this should be far quicker.

Hi Thurstan,

I would check out Waveshares range of E-ink displays: down the bottom of this page
They have quite a nice range of displays with faster refresh times, multiple colours and greyscale displays at a range of resolutions and sizes.

Core might be able to special order in the parts if you send through an email!

Cheers,
Liam.
