Pinball Machine

Hi All,

The pinball machine mentioned in this thread is now almost complete. The electronics all work correctly with sounds and lights playing at various times when triggered by the bumpers. The student is yet to add the obstacles that will stop the ball going straight into the gutter.

Here is the link to the video of it if you want to have a look.

All parts were designed in Fusion 360. The PCB was manufactured by PCBway. The electronics housing and bumpers were 3D printed. The terminals on the bumpers were CNC machined from copper plate. The flippers mechanisms were 3D printed with rotating parts printed in place. Solenoids were not used for the flipper mechanism as this is designed to be a project for schools and solenoids that are powerful enough to move the flipper mechanism are expensive. The flippers themselves are cast from epoxy resin with laminated images and UV resin on top. The body of the machine is made from 3mm ply and 19x19 solid timber. Voices were changed using Voice.ai.

Thanks to everyone for their advice / help!

Cheers,
Mark

N.B The laminated paper was cut on a vinyl cutter for accuracy. The cardboard section at the bottom does have a laminated design, it just wasn’t on there when the video was taken.
