Project by LachlanA; Aircraft Lighting Model

I’ve just shared a new project: "Aircraft Lighting Model"

The aim of this project was to create a working model of the aircraft exterior lighting systems. Initially, this started as a simple project for Uni, but I wasn’t having that. I wanted to learn something. So of course, I went over the top. Being my first big electronics project, I wanted to do it analogue, so that I could learn a bit more about components and such.

It uses four 555 Timer circuits to flash and blink the lights, somewhat consistent with that of an Airbus!

Hey Lachlan,

Thanks for sharing your project! What an interesting application for 555 timers, awesome to hear that you’re looking to get into the somewhat voodoo realm of analogue electronics, keen to see what you come up with next!

Hey Lachlan,

Very interesting project, that CAD work is something else! and the PCB is very clean!!

This is schmick - nice build! Now just to see it on an RC aircraft. I’m sure this’d fit easily into a model air liner.

Ben eater’s videos on building a clock circuit for his breadboard computer is a really good intro to using 555 timers:
