I grabbed one off the shelf to check.
I can confirm that it does not fit with the Active Cooler. It’s simply too low to the board and requires the exact same space as is currently taking up by the Active Cooler. With some extra large stackable headers and some larger standoffs, you should be able to connect them both, but either wise it won’t fit.

Thanks, I am a starter with this, so don’t have much knowledge at this stage, however I thought the compact Hat + would it, seeing won’t can you advise what I get get that will fit active coloor and by that you do mean the 3 x heat sinks?

To clarify, I thought you were referring to the Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler which is a single aluminium heatsink with a small fan attached, not the set of three separate heatsinks. Its considered the standard cooling option for the Pi 5 and what I would recommend at a minimum for working with it.
For the simplest setup, use the full-size Raspberry Pi 5 M.2 HAT+. It includes the taller header and mounting hardware needed to sit above the Active Cooler, and supports both 2230 and 2242 NVMe drives. Both parts are currently in stock.
The Compact HAT is intended more for fitting inside the Official Pi 5 Case with its built-in case fan, rather than pairing with the Active Cooler. If that is what you meant originally, I’m sorry for the mix-up. This should work fine with such a setup.
