Hi there,
If I sell a product made of Pico W, BNO85s (IMUs) and coin motors, what are the requirement to meet to sell this product? Or does it already meet any standards and requirements?
Hi there,

The standard required is set by the product you are selling, not by its components. To meet those standards you have to select components appropriately, but the standard that the components must meet will depend on how they are incorporated into your product. For instance, many vendors sell products that would be difficult to make 240V AC compliant, but they don’t have to be because they are powered by low voltage DC from a plugpack that is 240V AC compliant.
Hi Mitchell
There are standards centred around safety and lately the child proofing of batteries and battery compartments. You would soon find out, if your product does not comply it would probably be removed from sale, not necessarily by you.
The other thing if you make rubbish you won’t sell many but if your product is attractive to the target consumer you could be on a winner. Any warranty offered could make a difference.
In a nutshell I think it all comes down to how good you want to make this product.

Hey Mitchell,
I don’t think specific criteria exists for hobby electronic products but a good place to start would be the ACCC’s website. They are the government branch that manages this sort of thing.
This link is a decent place to start.
Hope this helps!

Hi Mitchell,
If you sell electronic equipment, it must comply with EMC regulations and compliance is very expensive.
