Short YT vid: electronics magic

I thought that was going to be incredibly triggering…I organise my brain :brain: with colour so heavily…
but it was actually rather beautiful and fascinating to watch. :rainbow:

Part of me requires an explanation… part :rainbow:of me is happy just to wonder…

Really interesting!

Electronics magic is a funny niche subsection. I guess a lot of people see electronics as some kind of “magic” already.

I am curious about the exact function of the box, there are a variety of ways you could achieve this type of thing. Would be purely speculating without getting hands on though!

Did you make an acrylic case by yourself?

That is definitely an interesting project, I would think the easiest way to recreate it would be to have alternating polarities between bulbs 1&3 and 2&4, with the LEDs matching this, so you would be able to light up the blue and red regardless of whether they are in the 2nd or 4th positions, but not the yellow or green and vice versa.

I don’t think this is a real project. Changing a plastic cap on a metal switch will not change the wiring of the switch inside the case.

The bulbs could have a micro circuit that reads a digital stream and activates when it get the right information is possible. Wiring in cars has been proposed to run on a bus system and all devices have an address. Possible it worked out too expensive or did not meet Government safety standard. House wiring can also run on a bus system but it makes it more expensive with each socket and device needing to be smart.

I was amazed at this initially, but after some careful sceptical thought it is just one of the many rubbish videos on YouTube that are basically scams.

My opinion, happy to be proved wrong.

If it’s ‘magic’ then it’s likely a memory trick. All the switches do the same thing - signal a MCU. The MCU is programmed to run through a sequence of lamps, on and off according to the change of the state of any of the switches. The operator has memorised the sequence and sets the LEDs and caps according to the programmed pattern. He moves the switch that corresponds to the pattern he is predicting, but any switch would have worked. Like a lot of magic, the equipment is used to distract from the real skill.
