Using the RTK kit can I take accurately geotagged photos with my Android or iOS mobile phone?

Hi @Tony280616, Welcome to the Forum!!!

Very good question! If you don’t mind sharing I’d really like to know why you need this level of precision for photos?

I don’t think it’s possible on iOS as the photos app relies on system location and I don’t know of any way to spoof the system location with an external location.

On Android it may be possible using an app such as GPS Connector though I’m unsure of it’s compatibility with the Sparkfun RTK unit.

This may also not completely fix the accuracy issue though. The RTK Surveyor either needs a second Base station unit transmitting the correction data or the App needs to receive NTRIP signals over the internet to get the Centimeter level accuracy. The apps used in conjunction with the RTK Surveyor is what gives it it’s accuracy alongside the GNSS Signals.

Thank you, we are mapping cemeteries using RTK drone-mounted cameras and we also need to capture the gravestone details from the ground and map them to the aerial data. We would running a GNSS base station for PPK correction of the aerial imagery.

There is a system available from overseas to add RTK to Android phone photos, but I’d prefer to buy a local product if it’s workable.
