Thonny having issues with MicroBit V2.21

I have gone through getting started and others a few times. i can connect to Mbit V2 with blockcode and upload etc.and all works.
However opening thonny i could not see connected microbit,
went through tutorials and Run>Configure interpreter >>Micropython (BBC microbit)>>com4USB and Try to detect
then clicked ok
this has appeared to work once.
now when i send the PicoDev files it just keeps sending?
then i get this error
Device is busy or does not respond. Your options:

  • wait until it completes current work;
  • use Ctrl+C to interrupt current work;
  • reset the device and try again;
  • check connection properties;
  • make sure the device has suitable MicroPython / CircuitPython / firmware;

Hi Ian,

Welcome back!!

Just before you go to upload a file or run code can you press ‘Ctrl’ + ‘C’, if you do, does the following appear in the console? ‘>>>’
Otherwise if you press ‘Ctrl’ + ‘F2’ that should restart everything.

PS: You’ll also need micropython installed, you can follow this guide here: How to Program a MicroBit using Thonny - Tutorial Australia

Hi Ian,

Bit of a stretch but have you tried a different USB cable? Trying a second micro:bit makes me think this is a software thing.

Which version of MicroPython have you flashed to the micro:bit?

Hi James,
I tried a different USB cable and as i have 2 kits was able to try both those plus the others i have.
after that i uninstalled thonny as well and reinstalled it to get latest. (was the current ver tho)
restarted laptops etc.
I was able to access with laptop as in the MICRO drive would open etc
I was also able to access with makecode webpage and send blockcode and have it work.
although i not know how to use block code/java to complete same tutorial.

I might take this work laptop home and try it with this one.

I just don’t get why it wont work for me.

flashing micropython hasnt worked it just seems to hang.

recomendations for other ways to flash the latest python and just how long will that take?
can i do from makecode bbc blockcode place, dunno what the site actually is called but it works.

cheers

However I cannot access the microbit through Thonny successfully.

Thus i cannot complete the tutorial to make the air quality sensor (160) work.
