Read moreI am looking for usb c male plug breakout without a resistor (or a resistor that can be easily removed or bypassed). I was looking at USB Type-C Plug Breakout - USB 3.0
SKU: CE08095 Brand: Pimoroni ( which has a resistor, but says it can be moved though I am not sure how difficult). Any other options? I need cc & d connections, V & G of course
Hi Paul,
The USB Type-C Plug Breakout – USB 3.0 is the closest match, although it’s currently out of stock.
“Move the resistor” means desoldering the small 5.1 kΩ SMD resistor from its default CC-to-GND position and soldering it onto the alternate footprint. Removing it entirely leaves CC available for your own circuitry; D+/D−, VBUS and GND are also broken out. It’s straightforward with flux and an iron (removing will be much easier than resoldering the SMD resistor).
I couldn’t find another stocked male plug breakout exposing CC and D+/D− without fitted CC resistors. One caution: with the 5.1 kΩ pull-down removed, a standards-compliant USB-C source may not enable VBUS unless your circuit provides the appropriate CC termination.
