Using USB-C Monitors with a Raspberry Pi 4

Hi,

I want to use a Raspberry Pi to stream VLC Media Player via WiFi from a device and display it on a portable monitor.

The catch is that my portable monitor, the Asus mb16ace portable monitor only has USB-C input. I don’t know if I can use a Micro-HDMI to USB-C converter to plug the pi to the portable monitor.

It’s a Raspberry Pi 4

What do you think best option is? I can by a different model Raspberry Pi if that makes life easier?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I think you’ll need an active converter such as the one below, as USB-C uses DisplayPort under the hood, which can’t be passively converted to from HDMI (but interestingly the opposite works).

Unsure where to find one that’s in stock. as generally people want to go from a USB host (laptop) to HDMI peripheral (monitor)

Thank you.

Such a hassle that the only input is usb C. Wasn’t really thinking when I bought it.

Give your suggestion a go. Cheers
