Can't get the DFPlayer - A Mini MP3 Player to work with arduino

Hello

Seeking advice on how to make the DFPlayer - A Mini MP3 Player work using an Arduino? I have tried many tutorials - starting with the DFRobot website. -

etc…and still cannot get it to work.

Anyone have some setup / code that differs from the websites given?

Thanks
John

I have tried just about every single web page tutorial out there and I still can get it to even make a single noise.

Hey John,
Welcome to the forums!

Can you give us an idea of the setup you have got currently? Any pictures or a product list would help us look at the connections and compatibility for this product.

Cheers,
Blayden

Here is the setup - exactly the same as DFRobot Wiki setup I linked previously.

Code is identical to the code on the DFRobot Wiki setup.

I can’t even get the power LED on the DF Player to lightup.

Hi John,

Was that yellow wire in that spot when you were testing? It looks like it’s connected to a power rail rather than the connection point the DFPlayer is plugged into.

i.e. here’s how breadboards are wired

Hi James
I should have been more thorough - that yellow wire hits that power rail (no power to it) then via a 1k ohm resistor to power pin on the DF Player.

All sorted now.
It is a very tempermental device - finally managed to get it working.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi John,

Sorry for doubting you, I see that hidden resistor now.

Glad to hear it is working. If there’s any info you’d like to pass on to stick on the product page or this thread, let us know. Sorry I wasn’t able to be of more help, as you know it’s best to rule out the simple stuff.

Curious to know what the snag was.
