Yeah, each segment can be controlled independently - and each channel RGB can be PWM’ed to make much more than just 7 colours!
Its a shame there isnt a dedicated breakout for this part, driving it correctly (with absolute best practice) would be somewhat involved, but getting an MVP solution should be pretty straightforward.
