Electrochromic film / Switchable glass ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m trying to power PDLC Electrochromic film / Switchable glass from 12vdc . The film runs on 60vac.

Is there a neater/smaller way of powering this than having a 12vdc to 240vac inverter with the supplied transformer stepping it down to 60vac?

apparently the film works between 30-400hz and 60-75vac

It’s for a 12vdc car installation.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Charlie,

Have a look at our EL inverters and see if any of them might be suitable. From a quick look, it seems that EL panels operate on a similar principle to your film. Here’s some more info on how EL inverters work. I have never personally used electrochromic glass before, so I’m not sure if this will work, but at least it’s a starting point.

Putting this in a car is a very interesting concept, I’d love to see how you get on with it!

Hi Charlie,

A transformer which transit 12vdc to 60vac should be applied for your application.

PDLC film don’t work with 12vdc. So you need use this device to help the film work.
